Picea Pungens Glauca “Hoopsi”

Perhaps, Bluest of the Blue Spruce. This well known native North American plant is noted for its intense silvery blue coloring. The Hoopsi is a relatively slow growing tree at 12” per year. The tree grows even slower when young. The hoopsi is a tough tree with a wide range of growing areas. For optimum growth this variety should receive at least 15” of moisture per year and can be planted in Full Sun. Soil types and Ph are not critical and this plant can tolerate mild environmental salt and urban pollution

Picea Pungens Glauca “Globosa”

This tree doesn’t need a large area to grow as it will fit nicely in a smaller area. In twenty years you will have a 5’ to 6’ globe-like tree. Very slow growing with a uniform blue color. Occasional pruning is required on this tree as the various leaders can take off. A close cousin to the R.H. Montegomery. Does well on a variety of sites and soils. A very hardy selection tolerant of environmental salt and urban pollution.

Picea Pungens Glauca “R.H. Montegomery”

This selection was discovered by its Namesake Colonel R.H. Montgomery of Coscob Ct. This plant does grows best where summers mild or cool and not in heat or Humidity. It can survive on a wide variety of soil types and Ph however it prefers full sun and well drained soils. Typically a steel blue color.. Very similer to Picea Pungens Glauca “globosa”, except this tree will form a leader and make a small pyramid shaped tree
